TRANSMISSION: Kaleidoscope

Phunk & Young Talents Collide

An experimental laboratory and incubatory platform organized by PHUNK for young creatives. This latest edition of TRANSMISSION comprises of 10 apprentices from varying creative disciplines and backgrounds, who have been under the mentorship of PHUNK over the period of one year.

Specifically structured to facilitate collaborative projects between its apprentices and creatives from outside the program, TRANSMISSION: Kaleidoscope derives inspiration from the patterns that a kaleidoscope produces, and aims to explore the notion of change in a world of constant flux; the contrast between rest and movement, structure and chaos. Embark on a fascinating journey of rediscovery and reinterpretation in this showcase of design, illustration, installation, sculpture and video art.

Showcase of works by 9 participants of the mentorship

'Making Comics' Exhibition

View the works of participants from the Noise-Bearfruit workshop series

Making comics is not just about drawing comics. It's actually more about telling stories. Epic stories, simple stories, funny stories, strange stories, but stories nevertheless. In April 2012, Noise Singapore and the National Library Board jointly organised a workshop series on ‘Making Comics’ led by writer and artist Troy Chin. The Young Artist Award 2011 winner conducted four workshops with 17 comic enthusiasts and taught them the foundations of building stories using sequential art. This showcase is a culmination of the workshop series and features original works created by the participants.

The exhibition will be at three libraries, according to the schedule below:

  • Central Public Library (National Library, basement 1): 12 - 30 May 2012
  • Bukit Merah Public Library: 1 Jun - 1 Jul 2012
  • Woodlands Regional Library: 3 - 30 Jul 2012

Opening hours: 10am to 9pm daily

Drop by to see the interesting comics created by participants!
