About us

Noise Singapore

An initiative of the National Arts Council, Noise Singapore is dedicated to making noise about the creative talent of young people aged 35 and below. Through numerous platforms to express, develop and showcase their creativity, Noise Singapore hopes to encourage young people in Singapore to actively participate and nurture their relationship with the arts, as well as get them spotted for their budding abilities.

Broadly classified under the genres of art and design, music and photography, the Noise community will learn from top professionals, interact with like-minded youths and share their original creations with the world. Noise Singapore platforms include concerts at venues like the Esplanade that feature young musicians hungry for performing experience and exposure, exhibitions of varied scale that showcase the original artistic creations of young people, an online gallery, mentoring programmes that link aspiring artists with top professionals in the industry, as well as workshops, talks and activities that focus on providing a fun experience of participating in the arts.

National Arts Council

The National Arts Council (NAC) was established in September 1991 to spearhead the development of the arts in Singapore. To realise its vision of developing Singapore into a distinctive global city for the arts, NAC provides total support to nurture artistic talent, promotes the practice and appreciation of the arts among Singaporeans, builds up capabilities and resources, facilitates internationalisation and advocates the value of the arts. Through its holistic range of programmes and initiatives to develop the entire arts value chain, the Council champions the growth of a vibrant arts sector where the arts is accessible to all, and the community of artists, arts groups and arts businesses can innovate, excel and achieve sustainability in the long term.

The Patron of the Council is President of Singapore, S R Nathan. The Council comprises 22 members from the private and public sectors. It is supported by a team of arts advisers and resource panel members who provide feedback and advice on the initiatives taken to realise its vision of making Singapore a distinctive global city for the arts.
